Area: 9.3 acres
Client: Simoco
Architect: Prakalpa Architects
Location: New Town, Kolkata
Status: Concept Design
Year: 2018- present
The vast expanse of Sanhita was earlier characterized by a prototypical monotonous grid of bungalows, which were reorganized through a variety of combinations to generate central green spaces and the scope for more public activities located within rows of bungalow spaces. The underlying theme for the structure of the landscape came from the client's wish to recreate 'European Romantic Villas County'. A central clock tower gave the design a landmark of sorts. Coupled with this was a jogging loop for the health conscious, play areas for the young spirited and plazas with feature walls for the interactive. A grand entry wall with a circular paving pattern added to the experience. A water feature and a ‘lazy flowing pond’ were also added as water elements to the design thereby making it what is popularly called, ‘a holistic approach’.
