South Club, Elgin Road

Area: 1500 sqm

Client: Srijan Group

Location: Elgin Road, Kolkata

Status: Concept Design

Year: 2017- present

The Heritage Sports Club- South Club presented a unique problem to us in redesigning the respite space between the Lounge and the tennis courts as well as the club-front streetscaping. Our solution incorporates the use of long planter beds to prevent pedestrian flow directly from the road to the footpath while retaining the existing trees within them. Internally our design uses a canopy as long as the lounge-front to create more seating space for club members to enjoy the ongoing activity in a better way. The lounge corridor itself was redesigned so that the user feels a seamless connection from court to the corridor. At the heart of our solution, we have tried to introduce a contemporary touch seamlessly woven into the existing colonial facades.
