The growth of the city of Bhubaneshwar has been characterized by parallel lines, which get skewed as they move through the geographical characteristics of the city. Inspired with These lines when projected on the site bend further owing to the presence of existing trees, thereby creating pockets of spaces for the landscape to arrive and further enhance the environment of this vital public space.
The Galleria Mall, like all Indian malls, has the distinct character of being a place where the young and the aged alike congregate and thus a functional public space is one of the foremost requirements of a mall. The landscape attempts at further enhancing this function into an aesthetic experience by creating a pattern of dynamic soft lines which move from paving patterns to the green plazas. The movement of the people through the plaza is such that it does not hinder the individuals who wish to use the plaza for interaction and seating. A dry feature fountain, sculptures and signage walls guide the visitor along the landscape.
