The landscape for the Bungalow of the Chief Minister of Bengal was an honorable opportunity for us and we gave it much thought so as to generate spaces which would allow him/her to both interact with the public and to also be permitted to spend time alone. A large curved feature wall hides the private lawn area from the driveway both visually and acoustically thus segregating both areas into public and private zones. The driveway itself is composed of an interesting array of spirals-they merge with the central island landscape and bear a central water fountain.
The private lawn, on the other hand, has a beautiful pattern of stepping stones, a think tank for interaction and a mini raised platform to serve as an area for cultural performances, if and when required. A meditation pavilion has been placed at the top right corner of the site to give it the gift of silence coupled with the sound of the river flowing nearby.
